Export Academy is a unique project in the field, organized and hosted by professional export consultants. In the cycle of 5 seminars, participants will create their own export strategy and plan, as well as organize a trade mission to their chosen strategic markets.

To give SMEs a theoretical base with role play how to implement the knowledge in real life and in the end of the course to give to participants official certificates.

2. Wstęp

Export Academy is a unique project, during which participants gain a thorough knowledge of the market structure, successful export planning and techniques, and develop a step by step plan for attraction of customers for their chosen export market A five day course organized by the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with export consulting company and a prestigious higher level academic institution – Stockholm School of Economics – gives not only a theoretical background but also a certificate recognized in both academic, as well as professional world.

It was a cross-border project. 

4. Cele

The best practice was mainly targeted to benefit Latvian SMEs and export managers. They were intended to benefit from the action in the following ways:

  • Gain theoretical knowledge from practitioners and academics in the field;
  • Develop practical steps and solutions for their respective enterprises;
  • Receive feedback and recommendations from other professionals;
  • Get officially certified in the field. 

5. Plan działania

Firstly were found three partners with different perspectives on the same questions – chamber of commerce, professional export consulting company and educational institution, which could certify the course. Secondly, was found financing source from European Funds in order to decrease expenses of participants and make the course available to as many people as possible. Afterwards, was developed a practical programme and conducted a marketing campaign to promote the course and collect the group. 

6. Zastosowanie i wykonanie

Idea was brought by the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). It was initiated by the professional export consulting company GatewayBaltic. Three partners from different fields worked together – LCCI, GatewayBaltic and Stockholm School of Economics. Progress will be evaluated by all three partners.

7. Rezultaty i korzyści

The first trial course started on April 11, 2012 and will end on June 19, 2012. At this stage it is going as planned from the beginning. When finishing the first course, partners will evaluate it and plan the second course. 

8. Główne przeszkody i sposoby ich pokonania

No real problems were encountered as three partners have cooperated before in similar projects and are professional organisations in the respective field.

Partners are planning to repeat it in the second half of 2012. 

10. Wnioski

The initiative was successful due to professional partners, who cooperated in several similar initiatives before. Expertise in the field and clear understanding what was important for the target group.
