2. Introduction

Definition of competencies of entrepreneur is very important in each firm.  These competencies are crucial factor in the success of the company. The project had a goal of assessing the groups of general and specific competencies from various areas of science, e.g. psychology, legislation, management, sociology, managerial theory.

The project was based on results of previously implemented project M-ASTRA (LdV Programme 2004-2007)

  • Strengthening of small and medium sized firm as far as their chances of survival are concerned

  • Adjustment of the system of managerial competencies assessment in SMEs

6. Implementation and realisation

The tool can be implemented during the recruitment process. The competencies management system can be treated as an integral element of human resources management in a company. M-ASTRA allows for definition of recruitment employee model, which can help in gaining good candidates for certain jobs.

8. Main hurdles and their solutions

There were no bigger problems in implementation of this best practice. 

9. Replicability or Repeatability

There is no information regarding the repeatability of the practice yet as the project has just finished, but there is a possibility of replicating it in other areas as the tool can be used not only for Manager’s competencies. 

10. Conclusions

M-ASTRA allows for assessment of not only competencies of a Manager (individual assessment), but also competencies of team of other employees (group assessment). It is performed with the use of so-called 360 degrees assessment, which besides the assessment of own competencies allows for assessment of given Manager by his co-workers, Managers and employees. After the assessment, the Manager receives information about own, individual level of competencies together with the interpretation.
